Creating your account
To make an account takes a short time, and it is free. There is no separate step to sign up. Your first sign-in makes your account automatically.
Ways to sign in
- Email: give your email address. Then we send you a link that you can use one time. Click the link, and you are in. You do not need a password.
- VATSIM: sign in with your VATSIM account. This connects your VATSIM CID. Therefore, when you fly on the network, your ATC activity appears with your flights.
Note
Both methods give the same result. You do not need a VATSIM account to fly on Tailstrike. You can also connect one later, in your settings.
How to select a user name
- At your first sign-in, Tailstrike asks you to select a user name.
- Your user name is your public identity on the network. It appears on the leaderboards, in the flight logs, and on your hangar.
- You can change it later, in your settings.
Your hangar and your TailID
- After you sign in, you have a hangar. It is your pilot profile and your home page on the network. It is empty at the start. It fills with statistics, records and badges while you fly.
- Tailstrike also gives you a TailID: a short pilot code. It appears on your profile, and you can search for it in the pilot directory. It is also your invitation code.
How to learn the app
- The app opens on a dashboard. The dashboard adapts to you: it shows aircraft that you can fly, your active lease when you have one, and the live activity of the network.
- The important pages have a Show me around button. The button starts a short tour of the page. The tour also starts automatically at your first visit to each page.
- The quick start in the app shows the same steps as Your first flight.
Next step: the plugin
Get the Tailstrike plugin next. The plugin records your flights, from each supported simulator, online or offline.
